Protect, Cyber Security
Keep your business safe, and prove it.
Most cyber attacks are not sophisticated, they are the digital equivalent of someone trying your front door to see if it is unlocked. Fuse keeps your data, systems and people safe from the most common threats, and helps you achieve Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus so you can show clients and insurers that your door is locked shut.
The idea
The natural companion to the IT we manage.
Security is not a separate product bolted on at the end, it is part of running technology properly. Once Fuse connects a business and manages its IT, protecting it is the obvious next step, the same accountable team across the connection, the systems and the security that guards them.
That means there is no gap between the company that provides your line, the company that runs your network, and the company that secures it. It is all Fuse, which is exactly how the most common attacks are kept out, by getting the basics consistently right rather than leaving holes between suppliers.
Cyber Essentials
The UK government-backed baseline, achieved with Fuse.
Cyber Essentials is the UK government's minimum baseline standard for cyber security, overseen by the National Cyber Security Centre and delivered through IASME. It is built around five technical controls proven to stop the most common internet-based attacks. Fuse helps you put those controls in place, achieve certification, and keep it current year on year.
Firewalls
Boundary protection between your systems and the internet.
Secure configuration
Devices and software set up to reduce avoidable weaknesses.
Security update management
Keeping systems patched and up to date against known flaws.
User access control
The right people with the right access, and nothing more.
Malware protection
Defences against viruses, ransomware and other malicious software.
Maintained annually
Certification is renewed each year, and Fuse keeps you on top of it.
Two levels
Cyber Essentials, or Cyber Essentials Plus.
Both cover the same five technical controls. The difference is how they are verified, and how much assurance that gives the people who ask to see it.
The baseline, self-assessed
An independently verified self-assessment that demonstrates the core controls are in place. The right starting point for most organisations, and enough to meet many tender and insurance requirements.
- Verified self-assessment questionnaire
- The five core technical controls
- Annual certification
- Lets you bid for contracts that require it
The same controls, independently tested
Built on the same requirements, but with a hands-on technical audit of your systems by an accredited assessor, so the controls are not just declared, they are verified. A higher level of assurance, and a requirement for some higher-value and public-sector contracts.
- Everything in Cyber Essentials
- Independent technical audit of your systems
- A higher pass bar and greater assurance
- Often required for public-sector and enterprise work
Certification is issued through an accredited certification body. Fuse gets you ready, puts the controls in place, and supports you through assessment and renewal, so it is a managed outcome, not a form you face alone.
Why it is worth it
Safer, and able to win the work that asks for it.
Certification does two things at once. It materially reduces your exposure to the everyday attacks that catch most businesses out, and it gives you something to show: many clients, tenders and insurers now ask whether you hold Cyber Essentials before they will work with you or cover you.
For a small or growing business, that can be the difference between being eligible for a contract and being ruled out before the conversation starts.
